The theme present throughout my studios holds an urge, a fervent attempt to delve into the human condition and try to dissect, dismantle the mind and its abstract patterns. Nestled within each studio is a thought provoking, pivotal message that aims to raise awareness and ignite a spark of change within our society.

Each notion further accentuated through performance, ritual and movement, a unique yet abstract medium. The essence behind this approach created a more tangible, effective outcome assisting in creating a powerful  journey for viewers. Each each studio outlines the importance of the human condition and its ability to alter one's perception of the world as a whole.

Note - Each Design & Technical Drawing was created using Autocad for Technical Drawings & Rhino
ceros for 3D Rendering and Visualisations.

During the geological era of the Anthropocene, can spatial practice act as an anchor, for training the human race, as they prepare for their final ascent, into the galactic unknown?

Long Elevation

This idea of new knowledge is found hidden within the words in which I have devoted my exegesis to. Spirit, Ritual, Preservation. Passage. This entire project was created to ignite new knowledge into the human race, as the old was merely causing great havoc in the world. The new knowledge preserved and stored within the human as a result of their forest adventure, will be the beginning of a new life on a new planet, that will no longer be riddled with greed, but rather filled to the core with ritual practices and a connection to the spirit of their landscape, that feed the soul and the heart alike. Unlearning urban habits in the hope to re learn a new way of life that is governed by our ancient ancestors endeavors. so that, my dear earth, was an ode, to you.

“The purposeful perseverance of the person who undertakes the journey adds a ritual quality to the passage"

New York City
Study Abroad

This program, using a series of key case studies, focused on interdisciplinary design research. The offshore context required students to respond in a conscious and critical manner to the local environment, and to exercise entrepreneurial skills in research.

The aim was to research and develop an ‘activist’ spatial project to be publicly presented and reviewed in New York City.

This elective explored historic & contemporary activist issues within the context of New York City and methods of activist communication.

The studio looks at growing issues in the consumption and disposal of waste. Exploration of materials and processes overlooked in the fabrication of our built environment.

The studio emphasises process over result, crossing disciplines into graphic + object design as well as studying the details that contribute to spatial design.

Accompanying Audio:

Audio was played via head sets that I distributed out to the reviewers for the final presentation.

A compilation of photographs sat on the wall and the audience was to go through the narration with the photographs above

Waste The Ugly Duckling

The maze is indicative of the permanent + tangible affect human beings have on our environment. The space created is a 3D replica of the factory in which the photographic series took place. A microcosm of the concrete jungle in which we appear to be living within.

Lifeless Object, Lifeless Human

Location: Greive Parade, Altona North, Melbourme, Australia

The human relies on the factory for its basic essentials. The factory allows the human to breathe easy knowing there is always more to be produced. Mass production ensures that the human will never be short of lifeless objects, lifeless objects gives the human a sense of purpose. The object gives hope to the human that it will be on earth for eternity.

We have designed ourselves as internalised creatures, scampering into manufactured shells that protect us from the external, yet fail to support authentic lived experience”

Space and the Minds eye

A research focused design studio created to raise a series of complex questions in relation to architectural space and the changing realm of psychology, mental health and wellbeing.

Space and The Minds Eye worked closely with The Mind Room, a community of psychologists, wellbeing and performance professionals in order to create physical space that contributes to human flourishing.

Project Title

Amor Fati ' A Lover of fate'

A site specific project located in St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Situated in the underground carpark of a co-working studio, Co-Work me.

Additional work /

A5 Booklet outlining each experience.

Audio file that the inhabitants will listen to as they meander through the space. If our walls could talk, this is what they could say.

Exploring the idea that our physical spaces can hold memories, life & wisdom.

Amor fati, not only encourages a love of one’s own fate, but insists on honouring, accepting and holding space for another’s.

At the core of a co-working space, lies a subconscious urge to interact, converse and communicate. A 25 year old female lawyer studies directly opposite a 60 year old male architect. Two different worlds. Different entities. Yet both marvel at the depth of the others profession. My space celebrates this interaction. A concept that harnesses, the essence of story-telling through a tangible, socially engaged, lens. Before users enter the space they are greeted by a sign post which says “recording begins here, take a deep breath and enter when ready” the post is there for two reasons… 1 to not breach the privacy of our users and 2 to harness this idea that each word is a piece of wisdom in itself, teaching us to not underestimate or suppress our stories as everything holds power, all that is verbalised is accumulated from experiences that mould the rhythm of our minds. As a result, my space, acts as a vessel for these words. The space is curated in a way that celebrates architectural thresholds. Explored through the frosted glass which hold the trees captive. Representative of the barrier that’s created between two individuals prior to entering the space. The trees breakthrough the top of the panel, celebrating the growth and understanding that occurs after ones session. Additionally, the bamboo situated in between the two inhabitants, intentionally blocks their line of sight. A reminder of the importance of the art of listening with mushin, a japenese term in the world of zen, meaning no mind the name of an earlier project. Through this spatial entity, I am able to create a tangible atmosphere that acts as an agency for change in the way society views our social encounters. With a fervent focus on acknowledging how ones story positive or negative can help anothers, especially in the workforce. The advice, the journey, the wisdom exchanged in the pods are recorded through microphones embedded within the interior of the pod, further explained in this booklet (PASS BOOKLET OUT) and segments are then chosen at random and sent to wireless headphones located on the other side of the pod. Users are invited to collect them and explore the intricacies of the shelter, the shelter acts as an organic shield, a protector, a collector of moments of impact, a sanctuary built for our words. The prominent use of natural elements thrusts my users back down to earth. Reminding us all that we are all connected and to honour the ebb and flow of our stories allowing them to flow into the minds of our colleagues in order to strengthen their connections in the workplace. The recording will sound similar to this (PLAY AUDIO) The audio continues until inhabitants are ready to move on from the space, they are then encouraged to meander through the neighbouring spaces to the Herbana, Sarah’s space. Where they are able to further their social interaction through the act of wholesome cooking. And through megs library to further celebrate the essence of tangible storytelling. Amor fati, not only encourages a love of one’s own fate, but insists on honouring, accepting and holding space for another’s

“I don’t know where to start actually. Okay, so about love, everything is love, everything that happens in this world is love. Everything you know, i don’t know how to explain it its just from the heart. You just have to feel it. Feel the love, but the most special in the world, which is a big problem that everyone just wants to get love. To get for himself, for i don’t know you just want to feel love, inside you, you want to feel it because you want to get it. Its not correct to feel like this,” Eden 20/12/2018 “There is no shortcut for pain, pain is something that we need to grow and respect it like we respect feelings of love and anger. Something important, its a lesson and i know i can imagine the feeling of emptiness sometimes, in the city or in the desert, in the world. Hug your pain and to give it a good company and to draw with it and to make good food with it just drink coffee and stare at the stars or the city with this” Chana 17/12/18 “I dont know, i am just realizing not what else is there for existence. I’m realisiing how disconnected the world is, in a way, its like everyone is subdivided them themselves. I don’t know it’s hard to explain, but i am coming to terms with so much at the moment. I feel connected to a space in time where i am infinite, which we are but like a space that goes beyond this moment so you feel alot more content in where we are now. Thank you for sharing” Jess 16/4/17
